Top Reasons Items Get Pulled

Stains are #1, followed by off-season items — each unaccepted item costs you $1. Inspect every item in bright light and confirm it's in-season before you tag. See our Stain Checking Checklist for exactly where to look. When in doubt, leave it out.

We don’t list every single kids item

If it’s made for babies or kids, in sellable condition and in season, and isn’t called out below as not accepted, we probably take it.

To keep our Kids EveryWEAR sale focused on the little ones, we DO NOT ACCEPT any adult clothing, junior sizes (odd sizes 1-13), or maternity wear at this event.

This includes all adult tops, bottoms, outerwear, athletic wear, formal wear, scrubs, and adult accessories (like purses, hats, belts, and adult jewelry).

Exceptions: Breast pump bras are accepted at KE as they are designed specifically to go around breast pump tubing. Postpartum support bands (belly bands) are accepted at KE, in Infant Equipment — pregnancy support bands go to EverythingELSE.

About Items Accepted & Fines

All items must be clean, in excellent condition, complete, and with working batteries and required cords!

  • Size Limits: No adult sizes XS, S, 000 or larger. Only kids sizes preemie-14/16/18/20. Only kids shoes sizes 0-8.5
  • Condition: No outdated items, no amount of yellowing, pet hair, bleach, tiny holes, tiny stains, no crunchy/overstretched elastic, no loose hems, etc.
  • Minimum children's clothing price: $2. Shoes & accessories: No minimum price.
  • Toys must have working batteries and be marked "COMPLETE".
  • Puzzles/Games: Must be 100% complete! Mark "Counted/Complete" directly on the tag.
  • We do not accept vintage or hand-painted items, or items missing pieces or in need of repair.
  • A fee of $1 per item will be deducted from your check for each unaccepted item brought to the sale. Unacceptable large items will result in a $10 disposal fee. Fines are listed on your Seller Report.

💡 Pro-Tip: The "Inspection Light" Trick

Stains are the #1 reason items are rejected. Check all items under bright, natural light before tagging. Check front/back, hems (pants/shorts/sleeves), knees, bottom, skort shorts, snaps/buttons, zippers, embroidery/smocking, and seams.

Check at the Crew Check-in table at Drop-off to get questionable items approved and have tag marked "accepted", but please err on the side of caution.

Is a clothing item Summer or Winter?

The Golden Rule: "Is this item designed for, or typically worn in, the upcoming season?" Rack space is highly limited! If a summer item could be layered for winter, leave it at home for the Spring sale.

🍁 Fall/Winter (Sept)

UNACCEPTED ITEMS:

  • NO Summer Fabrics: No linen, seersucker, gauze, muslin, terry cloth, or madras.
  • NO Summer Pants: No above-knee pants or lightweight beach pants.
  • NO Swimwear — no exceptions. No swimsuits, and no shorts with a swimsuit lining.
  • NO Summer Cuts: No open bellies, ruffle/butterfly sleeves, or eyelet. No cap flutter sleeves that angle in under the arm and are shorter on the underside near the seam.
  • NO Bare Shoulders: No "Cold shoulder"/off-shoulder (unless long-sleeved & very winter). No sleeveless shirts (even if worn under a sweater!), and no sleeveless dri-fit exercise shirts.
  • NO Sleeveless Dresses: Exception: Clearly winter styles (velvet, wool, winter formals, or sequins for New Years).
  • NO Summer Holidays: (St. Paddy's, Easter, 4th of July).
  • ✅ Shorts & shorts rompers — four exceptions only: see Shorts.
  • ✅ Capris — two exceptions only: see Jeans, Pants, Rompers, Capris.
  • ✅ YES to Fishing Shirts: Short-sleeved fishing shirts are accepted at both Fall and Spring.
  • ✅ YES to PJs: Full-length pajamas unchanged. Shorts-style pajamas: see Shorts.

🌷 Spring/Summer (Feb/Mar)

UNACCEPTED ITEMS:

  • NO Winter Fabrics: Fleece, flannel, thermal waffle weave, velvet, faux fur, corduroy, or lined pants, velour, wool, suede.
  • NO Winter Cuts: Turtlenecks, mock turtlenecks, winter vests, puffer, or dark-colored long-sleeved shirts.
  • NO Long-Sleeved Shirts: Heavy, dark-colored or dark color plaid long-sleeved shirts are not accepted.
  • NO Winter Themes: Holiday patterns or winter designs.
  • NO Winter Holidays: (Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years, Valentine's).
  • ✅ YES to Exceptions: We DO accept thin long-sleeved t-shirts clearly worn for NC summer sun in July, boys' light/pastel thin-weight summer dress shirts, and sweatshirts/hoodies (if NOT lined with an extra layer of fabric).

These are examples. Our Crew reserves the right to remove any items from the racks if they deem them off-season. We charge $1 per item for each unaccepted item.

Children's Clothing

Only season-specific children's clothing size preemie to a CHILDREN'S size 16/18/20 at Kids EveryWEAR.
Boutique trumps all other categories so place Boutique items in the Boutique Department and personalized items in Personalized section. Check any brand in our KE Brand Lookup app to see what goes on our KE Boutique racks.
A fee of $1 per item will be deducted from your check for each unaccepted item.
No dated clothing such as Old Navy 4th of July with a year dated on the item.

Dancewear & Gymnastics Leotards
FALL: General leotards Yes; on marked sections of main racks. No performance dance costumes on marked sections of main racks but in Fall those are allowed on Costume round racks;
SPG: Yes; on marked sections of main racks. No performance dance costumes.
Sports bras & leggings hang in specific areas, not with dancewear.
Dresses
FALL: Yes; season-specific; fall/winter materials and styles only; on marked sections of main racks. No Spring/Summer dresses, no sundresses, no lightweight summer patterns, no cap/ruffle/butterfly sleeve dresses. Sleeveless: no — two exceptions. (1) Sleeveless winter dresses such as velvet, sequins, tweed, wool, velour, or corduroy heavy winter fabrics are allowed; show them at the Crew Check-in table at Drop-off to get them approved. (2) Sleeveless uniform jumpers made to wear over a shirt are accepted at both sales.

SPG: No; dress-up clothes are accepted on racks in Toys & are limited to pretend-play dress-up clothes such as doctors and princesses; dress-up shoes need zip ties as they hang on pegs. Costume headbands like Minnie Mouse go in Dress-up Accessories.
Heavy Winter Coats, Snowsuits, Ski Bibs, Snow Pants
FALL: Yes; on marked rounders/racks.

Holiday Clothing & Holiday Pajamas
FALL: Winter holidays (Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years, Valentine's - must be clearly red hearts). Heavy sleeveless winter dresses OK (show Gail for approval); on marked sections of main racks.
SPG: Summer holidays (St. Paddy's, Easter, 4th of July); on round racks. No winter holidays. Includes Themed: PJs, shirts, leggings, shorts. Easter includes only items with bunnies & chicks. Button down shirts or fancy dresses go on marked main racks. 4th of July includes only items with flags, flag pattern, no year dated.

Boutique brands go with boutique. Non-boutique go on marked sections of main racks. Holiday clothing includes themed patterned shirts, sweaters, leggings or dresses. Regular fancy dresses (i.e. plaid, red/green) hang in Dress section on main rack.
Jeans, Pants, Rompers, Capris
FALL: Jeans and pants: yes; on marked sections of main racks. Lined jeans OK. Full-length leggings yes — these hang with pants. Rompers and full-length overalls hang with pants. No linen, seersucker or summer fabrics.
Capris — two kinds are accepted at Fall, and nothing else: capris in winter fabrics (fleece, flannel, corduroy, lined jeans or leggings), and below-the-knee athletic capris. No other capris, of any length.
SPG: YES capris, sweatpants, leggings and joggers allowed with jeans, pants, and rompers/overalls; summer materials: no lined, corduroy, fleece pants or fleece-lined leggings.
Lightweight Jackets & Sweaters
FALL: Yes; on marked sections of main racks. Raincoats & hoodies hang here.

2. Girls' corduroy only. Corduroy shorts, corduroy short rompers and overalls. No other girls' shorts, short rompers or short overalls at Fall.
3. Manufactured sets, any size, boys and girls. A sweatshirt-fabric long-sleeved top with its matching shorts, made and sold by the manufacturer as one outfit. Accepted, but we'd much rather have these at Spring. Not sure? Bring it to the Crew Check-in table at Drop-off and ask — we'll stamp the tag approved, the same as NWT clothing.
4. Soccer shorts. Made specifically for soccer, with no pockets — not athletic shorts in general. Any gender, Youth XS–XL. Hang on marked round rack in Sporting Goods.

Children's Dress-up Clothes & Shoes
Yes; dress-up clothes are limited to pretend-play dress-up clothes such as doctors and princesses; dress-up shoes need zip ties as they hang on pegs. Dress-up headbands like Minnie Mouse go in Dress-up Accessories.
Dolls
Like-new/gently used, perfect hair only. Attach tag with zip tie. Barbies and similar dolls may be tagged & sold individually or as multiples in one sealed Ziploc at one price.
Funko Pops
Yes; goes on the Anime shelf in the Boys Toys Department.
Grab Bags
Yes; only small bags <= 1 gallon Ziplocs; go on grid around center store area. Attach zip tie to hang from hooks.
Nerf Guns & Toy Guns
Yes; tape tag corner and zip tie tag to item.
Porcelain Dolls
No. We never accept these.
Toys
Yes; clean and with working batteries; test and mark tag "working".

🚫 We Never Accept

Check this list before you tag! These items are NEVER accepted:

  • Apparel: No handmade clothing, homemade tie-dye, dated clothing, or camp/rec league/advertising shirts.
  • Condition: No odors, stains, rust, pilling, pet hair, holes, or vintage/hand-painted items.
  • Safety & Infant: No recalled items, drop-side cribs, medical equipment, sleep positioners/infant wedges, or Owlet Smart Sock 2.0 or lower.
  • Stuffed Animals & Dolls: No porcelain dolls, generic stuffed animals, or non-licensed Build-a-Bears.
  • Hangers: No hotel/wire or cheap flat plastic store hangers can be sold.
  • Media & Electronics: No toys without working batteries, VHS/cassette tapes or players, blank or music CDs, records/vinyl, obsolete/vintage electronics, Osmos, or fax machines.
  • Books & Movies: No adult books/DVDs, R-rated/Adult-rated media, books with profanity/teen horror, or Dolly Parton Imagination Library books.
A quick note about quality & unaccepted items

To keep the Kids EveryWEAR Sale top-notch and ensure your items sell, our Crew actively checks racks and removes items that are off-season, stained, damaged, or not the correct sizes. We know mistakes happen! We hold every item we pull as unacceptable — white and colored tag — through the end of Pickup, so you can retrieve or inspect it before it's donated.
